SAFETY SOLUTIONS & SUPPLY is pleased to offer expert, professional, and certified training in the critical arena of electrical safety. The new program, OSHA 1910 – NFPA 70E Training and Compliance Requirements (2018 Standards), is important for construction workers, but some companies use the NRPA 70E guidelines to protect workers from arc flash accidents and other electrical hazards.
OSHA 1910 – NFPA 70E shock-protection training — see details below about the next session on Feb. 13 — is the result of a request the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) made to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) several years ago to develop complementary standards for electrical workplace safety.
Electrical hazards are the root of hundreds of work-related fatalities and injuries each year. The purpose of OSHA 1910 – NFPA 70E training is to help companies manage the risks faced by their qualified and unqualified electrical workers.
Electricity-related workplace hazards expose employees to the possibility of electric shock, electrocution, burns, explosions, and fires. In 1999, 278 workers died from electrocutions at work, which was almost 5 percent of all the work-related fatalities that year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On-the-job deaths related to electrical exposure have fallen in recent years — an average of 152 fatalities per year from 2011 through 2016 — but OSHA reports that even most of these fatalities easily could have been avoided.
In addition to the most important goal of reducing the number of worker deaths, OSHA 1910 – NFPA 70E training also can help companies reduce costs associated with OSHA fines, delayed construction and other business activities, higher insurance rates, third-party liability, and lawsuits.
OSHA 1910 – NFPA 70E training at Safety Solutions & Supply can be broken down into seven primary subjects:
- Introduction to Electrical Safety
- Identifying the Hazards

- Safety Related Work Practices
- Working On or Near Live Parts
